If you are like me and you worked all weekend to pay the bills, I know how you feel.
The economy is at best holding par for those of you employed and not doing good for those who aren't. This is a crazy time with a day tomorrow that holds no excuses. The reason I say this is are we going to elect the same leaders on the Raleigh City Council. They have been contributing to the notion that government knows all. We all know it doesn't. But what the Raleigh City Council can do is recruit private enterprise to come here with the jobs we all need. The city council needs to control its debt and spending to so corporations that we can run our city in a way that demonstrates stability and growth.
When we have one incumbent Councilman Stephenson say in a League of Women Voters forum that jobs and the economy are not number one, we have a problem. When we have another incumbent Weeks voting one day against Red Light Cameras because he is mad at the city and then vote for them because they kissed up to him, we have a problem.
I want to go to the Raleigh City Council and help clean up the bull crap. Is is time to end the elitism and bring some real representation to District C. Saying that you are doing all you can is not acceptable, WE CAN DO BETTER. I will fight to bring the private enterprise to District C and Southeast Raleigh.
So NO EXCUSES tomorrow, first you have to vote and the way you vote will help determine the future of Raleigh and District C.

How do you feel about the Bonds on the ballot in October?
As reported in the Midtown Raleigh News the voters will have a chance to vote on two separate bonds.
http://voteterrell.com/
On the Oct. 11 ballot, the city will ask Raleigh voters to approve $40 million in transportation bonds and $16 million in housing bonds. The items will be voted on separately.
WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU
Approval of both bond proposals, totaling $56 million, would translate into an annual property tax increase of $17.11 on a residential property valued at $188,139, the median-priced assessment for Raleigh homes.
Passage of just the $16 million housing proposal would mean an increase of $5.26 on an annual tax bill. And to clarify any confusion whether you support these bonds of not, they will raise your taxes if passed. Please let me know how you feel. E-mail is pterrelliii@nc.rr.com

Costs of Government
In these tough economic times many people feel that government salaries and benefits are too high.
As reported in the Carolina Journal Online,
When elected I will fight for the needs of our citizens in Raleigh while fighting against the haphazard policy of spend, spend, and spend some more.
As reported in the Carolina Journal Online,
On some state-specific questions, Tar Heel voters polled slightly to the left of their national counterparts. For instance, 48 percent of respondents in the national survey said that public employee salaries should be frozen and benefits reduced to shore up state budgets, compared to 40 percent who believe the opposite. We are carrying a $1.3 BILLION dollar debt in Raleigh with it having to be paid for in increased fees and possibly very soon increased property taxes. And yes I believe fees are taxes.
When elected I will fight for the needs of our citizens in Raleigh while fighting against the haphazard policy of spend, spend, and spend some more.

Walking Hedingham tomorrow at 1 PM
Saturday at 1 PM meet at 4549 Tollington Drive for a 2 hour walk in Hedingham. Walking with us will be At-large candidate Paul Fitts.
Raleigh District C's election has national implications
I want to thank everyone for stopping by and reading my Raleigh City Council District C blog. I want everyone to read this posting whether you fully support me or may have questions. Raleigh City Council C along with the many other electoral races will have national implications. In the next few weeks you will feel the effect of the state and national parties spending quite possibly over tens of million dollars state wide.
Let me be blunt, President Obama's campaign organization is making sure the Democratic Party has PAID staffers here in North Carolina. This should concern you if you feel that his policies along with many Democrats have been a failure. If you are worse off than you were three and even two years ago you need to carefully consider what I have said and what I stand for before voting for one of the other four candidates here in District C. Elected officials endorsements can carry weigth with uninformed voters both statewide and nationally. Your vote will affect what happens in 2010!
Though not a candidate in my race but for a at-large position on the Raleigh Council is Russ Stephenson. A Democrat, he actually told the League of Women Voters Forum that the economy and jobs are not the number one concern for all of us common folk. He is an endorsed Democrat and opponent of Paul Fitts. You can also see my answers to their questions as well as the other Raleigh municipal candidates.
Please get the word out to any of your friends and colleagues how important this election is. With a traditionally low voter turn out, your vote is magnified as much as 3 times. I ask for you help and your vote. Let's shock Raleigh and this nation.

Only 1 candidate supports a Marriage Constitutional Amendment
I am the only candidate that supports a Constitutional Amendment to protect Marriage as a act of joining a single man and a single woman into holy matrimony.
As reported in the News and Observer today, Democrats support Gay marriage while three black ministers joined Republican leaders to defend the idea of a Constitutional Amendment that protects marriage.
And I abhor the attempts of Democrats to equate racism of the Jim Crow Laws with this.
When will my opponents take a stand against Gay marriage and for defending our holy matrimony?

What is needed in Southeast RALEIGH
1) Why are so many unemployed?
The economy over the last to years has not gotten any better. In fact it has gotten even worse for black Americans. CBS News reported in June that it has risen to 16 percent for black Americans and even higher for black males. This is approaching Depression level unemployment if it isn't already there. And despite what some are saying like Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL) are saying, Racism is not the cause. Too many people of all ethnic and races have been very successful in life. And many of them more successful than even myself. Ending the cycle of dependency on the government for every person who can take care of themselves. And the best way to do this is to vote out of office every single politician who advocates for a continued cycle of dependency on the government.
2)What is up with record debt in Raleigh?

2)What is up with record debt in Raleigh?
The city's total debt is $1.38 billion, four times the amount it had a decade ago as reported by The News and Observer. Wow, four times what it was when Mayor Meeker took office. And whether you will vote or yes or no matters during the October 11th election. Look for more bonds on the ballot. It is for things we may need, but it adding to the burden of our children and grandchildren the best way? You have a chance to voice your opinion at the ballot box on October 11th.
3)What about better sheltered and oragnized bus stops? What about additional buses on the routes where they are needed? Where can we get the money?
Have you seen a elederly couple or a mother with her children standing out in the 100 degree heat of the day or pouring down rain? I have and it can be corrected. For the most part public bus stops consist of a small bus stop sign on top of a metal pole sticking out of the ground near the street. And you are lucky to have a non covered bench or if it is it can seat maybe 4 people. Just to let you know the city is spending $202,000 on art this year. And that does not include the money that has to be spent on art when building a new complex like a future Lightner Safety Center, that would be $705,000. I would like to know where are the priorities of those who support this?
I want everyone know who reads this that I will not take you for granted and I will work to earn and keep your trust on the Raleigh City Council. isn't it time we are honest with the people of Raleigh and District C. We need leaders who are willing to get into the neighborhoods to found out how Raleigh can help and to find out how Raleigh can get out of the way. Please consider Paul Terrell when voting on October 11th.

Hello, I am Paul Terrell and here is who I am.
My name of Paul Terrell and I am a ten year resident of North Carolina and this Raleigh City Council District. I have worked for Cree, Inc. the LED Light maker for 9 years and enjoying every bit of it. I am a college graduate of Old Dominion University and a veteran of the United States Army.
I am married to Loretta with one wonderful and adorable daughter. We enjoy our neighbors and everyone we meet in and around us are kind and courteous.
And this is the reason I am running. I want every voice to be heard and I want constituents who know that their voices will be heard. I want the voters to elect their representative, not the politicians select their voters. With the growing debt and lack of public services like transportation, district C has been neglected. I want to satisfy the public needs while paying off of our debts. We can do that.
Please take a look at my web site and donate if you would like to help me. There are 5 people in this election and even $20 to pay for postage of $50 to help pay for signs will be a great help to our campaign.

You can also email me at pterrelliii@nc.com and I will get in contact with about your issues or volunteering.
Thanks again,
Paul Terrell
